Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra principal bassist and Bassitoba founder Meredith Johnson leads a dynamic and world class faculty for an intensive and thrilling weekend of musical performance, study and growth. WSO bassist Daniel Perry is with us again to share his fantastic playing and insightful teaching. For those who want to perform with piano, Maddy Hildebrand has graciously agreed to return as our collaborative pianist. This year we are particularly excited to have bass luminary Hal Robinson with us for the entire weekend. It will be an unforgettable weekend of everything double bass!

The three-day symposium will include faculty and student recitals, a screened mock audition with comments and lots of small group collaboration. We will also have classes on technique, orchestral excerpts and performance strategies. In addition, Meredith will be joined by Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra principal cellist Yuri Hooker for the world premiere of a new cello/bass duo by Canadian composer Michael Oesterle. We are proud to be sponsored once again by the University of Manitoba at the stunning new facility of the Desautels Faculty of Music.  Come to Winnipeg and seize the opportunity to jump-start your musical summer at Bassitoba.

Deadline for application is March 22 and space is limited so get your playing sample to us today!
