Jacquet, late 1800’s SOLD

 
 

This unlabeled bass is attributed to Jacquet of Mirecourt circa late 1800’s.  The flat two-piece maple back marked by a faint irregular figure.  The ribs, neck and scroll are of similar maple.  The two-piece spruce top has narrow width grain in the center, widening to the flanks.  The varnish is red-brown on golden ground in color.
