A short history of Milt Hinton Institute for Studio Bass: Named for Milton J. Hinton, the highly regarded jazz and studio bassist and photographer, the MHI features his collection of basses, photos, biographical panels and archives. The biennial institute was inaugurated in 2014 featuring Richard Davis, Diana Gannett, Jerry Jemmott and Rufus Reid. MHI 2016 featured John Clayton Jr, Max Dimoff, Mimi Jones, and Robert Hurst III.
